PFS 850R, V70R Suspension Refresh Kit 2 – Koni and Apex Springs

We often get asked by customers for our recommendations and how to go about replacing original Volvo sport suspension on R models, and especially even more so now that Volvo have discontinued the original rear Nivomat self levelling sport dampers.

The driving characteristics of this ‘Koni’ kit is a close match the the original Volvo sport suspension fitted to R models.

Making this swap requires due consideration; cost, retaining the ride height and conversion of mountings all come into effect.

This kit contains everything you need to convert the suspension on the above models to remove the nivomat levelling system and replace with standard type (not levelling) sport shocks. The R models did have Volvo ‘sport’ type suspension fitted as standard from the factory so ideally it is best to install replacements products of the same type and keep the same characteristics.

This kit includes:

**Please note, there still are some mounting parts at the top of the original shock absorber assembly that will need to be re-used when fitting our kit such as spacers and the special cross shaped nut. This means the original spring/leg assembly still needs to be dismantled.

If you wish, you could purchase the fittings and springs included in our kit individually and combine them with a different suitable shock absorber of your preference such as the Bilstein B6 Sport. We have chosen to include Koni in our kit as it is an established and quality product as well as a reasonable price for a sport shocks set.

Alternatively, you could even fit Bilstein B4 ‘standard’ type shocks if you wanted the ride to be a little more comfortable than sport suspension offers. These work perfectly well in combination with our included springs.

This kit can also be used as a suspension refresh / sport upgrade for any petrol front wheel drive 850 or V70 model such as T5 even if not currently fitted with Nivomat units.
